THE EVENT: Knowlton Music Festival

As Marie-Eve Lambert, the first journalist to report on the event, said it : «We were shocked to see that last year’s big tent had been changed into a true mobile amphitheatre, eighty feet wide by a hundred and twenty feet deep and thirty seven feet high .

« It’s much more like a concert hall », exclaimed Marco Genoni, director and co-founder of the festival. He goes on talking about the acoustic virtues of the structures. «The roof is much higher and covered with a felt-like membrane so, even if it rains, the sounds of the orchestra won’t be covered by the noise of water hitting the roof. The acoustic chamber is also wider», he explained.

The stage area accomodates about a hundred musicians plus members of the choir. The seating area handles 850 without compromising with any of the safety measures expected of a concert hall. If you look closely at the above picture you will notice that the stage is set on a hillside with a slope varying from 5 to 10 degrees, a pretty steep incline for any structure.

«The MEGA-STAGE crew delivered on a challenge fit for Titans» said Vincenzo Cavaliere, technical director for the festival. He also added that he was «very happy with the way they built the conch, exactly the way I designed it.»

The STAGE

Two electrically deployed Logicstage™ units were set in front of the other and the gap was seamlessly covered by using MegaLite™ risers. At a 105 lb, and using half the legs of conventional risers, MegaLite risers were a perfect match for this amphitheater set-up! Classy MegaGuard™ guardrails adapt to unusual configurations and made them very handy in these circumstances.

LAST WORD

Ms. Simone Roy, head of operations for the festival agrees with TD Vincenzo Cavaliere: «The people of MEGA-STAGE really listened to us and, in less than two weeks have solved countless problems with efficiency. We certainly never regretted our choice.»
